Who typically starts therapy with you?

I work with a wide range of people—those dealing with anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, past trauma, or simply feeling stuck in life. Others come in to explore deeper questions about themselves and gain self-understanding. There is no 'typical' client. If you’re ready to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe and nonjudgmental space, you’re in the right place.

How do I know if therapy would help me?

You don’t need to be in crisis for therapy to help. Many people seek therapy proactively to gain clarity, reduce anxiety, improve self-confidence, and prevent future crises. If you’re feeling anxious, disconnected, self-conscious, or simply unsure, therapy can provide tools, insight, and direction to move forward with purpose and energy.

How long does therapy usually last?

The length of therapy depends on your goals. Some people benefit from just a few sessions to address a specific concern, while others engage in longer-term therapy to work through deeper patterns, past trauma, or ongoing personal growth. I check in regularly to discuss your progress and adjust our approach as needed.

What type of therapy do you use?

I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches based on what will be most effective for you. Sometimes that means focusing on practical tools like managing anxiety or communication. Other times we explore deeper patterns or past experiences. Every individual is unique, and your therapy should be too—not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

I’ve experienced trauma. What’s your approach to working with that?

Trauma work requires a slow, steady, client-centered pace. You will never be pushed to share more than you’re ready for. My approach focuses on safety, trust, and moving at a pace that feels manageable for you. Many clients share that they feel comfortable, grounded, and safe opening up in sessions with me.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. I offer virtual therapy sessions, which many clients find just as effective as in-person sessions. Online therapy is ideal for those with busy schedules or who prefer the comfort and privacy of their own home.

How often would we meet?

Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency. As progress develops, we may shift to biweekly or monthly sessions depending on your goals and needs. There is no standard schedule—we decide together what works best for you.

Is everything we talk about confidential?

Absolutely. Everything shared in our sessions is strictly confidential. The only exceptions are rare situations involving serious harm to yourself or others, and even then we will discuss it openly. Your privacy and sense of safety are top priorities.

I’ve never done therapy before—is that okay?

Yes, it’s completely okay. Many clients are new to therapy. It’s normal to feel nervous or unsure at first. You don’t need to have everything figured out—simply showing up is the first step. I will guide you through the process and help you feel more comfortable as we move forward.

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple. Call, text, or send a message, and we’ll connect. I’ll ask a few questions about what you’re looking for and determine if we’re a good fit. From there, we schedule your first session. Taking that first step can feel big, but it’s often the most important—and most people are glad they did.

What’s your approach as a therapist?

I believe everyone has the ability to grow, heal, and live more authentically. My approach is warm, collaborative, and insight-driven. I work to create a space where you feel fully seen and heard, and we explore your experiences together to develop clarity, build strengths, and move toward a more balanced and meaningful life.

Dr. Nikhil Jain

I am an Indian-American (South-Asian American) clinical psychologist licensed in the great state of sunny California where I have grown up and lived my entire life.

My path.

As long as I can remember, I’ve always had an intense desire to connect with people experiencing distress or suffering. This partly stems from personal experiences of adversity and learning how to navigate life’s complexities. I was intuitively drawn toward the helping professions and pursuing a career in clinical psychology. I developed an ability to identify the core issues, and I am practical in how to facilitate effective change. Witnessing change, growth, and healing inspires me every day. I recognize the complexity of holding a minority status and embrace working with people of all identities and backgrounds.
