Relationship Therapy in San Francisco
I do not provide couples counseling
Individual Therapy for Relationship Concerns
I provide individual psychotherapy for adults dealing with relationship stress, recurring relationship patterns, communication difficulties, emotional distance, breakups, divorce, trust concerns, relationship anxiety, and uncertainty about important relationships.
I do not provide couples counseling. Therapy focuses on helping you understand your own emotions, patterns, choices, boundaries, and ways of relating to others.
In-person individual therapy is available at my San Francisco office, and online therapy is available throughout California.
Relationship Issues I Can Help With
Relationship problems are often not limited to one argument, one breakup, or one difficult interaction. They can involve recurring emotional and interpersonal patterns that affect how you communicate, make decisions, trust others, set boundaries, and understand yourself.
I work with individual clients on concerns including:
Recurring relationship patterns
Communication difficulties
Emotional distance
Conflict and avoidance
Relationship anxiety
Jealousy and insecurity
Trust concerns and betrayal
Breakups and divorce
Difficulty making relationship decisions
Boundaries and assertiveness
Attachment and intimacy
Self-worth within relationships
Carrying patterns from previous relationships into current relationships
Family or cultural influences on relationships
The goal is not to assign blame. Therapy focuses on understanding what you experience, how you respond, and what patterns may be keeping you stuck so that you can make more intentional choices in current and future relationships.

When You Understand the Pattern but Still Feel Stuck
You may already understand that a relationship is affecting you—or even recognize the patterns you keep repeating—without knowing how to respond differently.
Therapy can help you move beyond simply analyzing what happened. Together, we can look at the fears, beliefs, attachment patterns, communication habits, and emotional responses shaping your relationships so that insight can translate into different choices and healthier ways of relating.
Interactive Mind Counseling is a focused solo practice. All psychotherapy is provided directly by Dr. Nikhil Jain, a California-licensed clinical psychologist. You are not assigned to an associate, trainee, or rotating clinical team.
This supports continuity, discretion, and a highly individualized therapeutic relationship from the initial consultation through treatment.
